​PURPOSE STATEMENT: 

​Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all people in and around the facility’s swimming pool. 

May 2026 - August 2026. Flexible schedule - Full time or Part time

​ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• ​Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors in and around the pool. 
• ​Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies. 
• ​Administer first aid and CPR, including using an AED and if trained, administer emergency oxygen when needed. 
• ​Rescue distressed swimmers when necessary. 
• ​Enforce the pool rules in an appropriate, fair and equitable manner and explain the rationale for the rule(s) when needed. 

• ​Assist people as needed, but without compromising the safety of others using the facility. 
• ​May perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe pool. 
• ​Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.  When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.  Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. 

​OTHER FUNCTIONS:  

• ​Perform other functions and tasks as assigned. 

​EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

• ​High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• ​One or more years’ previous lifeguard experience required.  

​LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:  

• ​Must have Lifeguard Certification from an accredited organization. 

• ​CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
• ​First aid may be required based on state or facility.
