Sierra Tucson, a world renowned residential treatment center, is seeking a

Program Manager for the Veterans & First Responders Program,

to work at our beautiful campus, located at 39580 S. Lago Del Oro Parkway, Tucson, AZ.

 

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Program Manager for the dedicated Red, White & Blue (RWB) Veterans and First Responder Program is responsible for ensuring the operational and clinical integrity of the program, maintaining its reputation for excellence, and serving as the primary point of contact and representative of the program to internal and external stakeholders. This role partners closely with the Service Resiliency Unit (SRU) team to strengthen relationships with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and First Responder agencies nationwide.

The Program Manager oversees daily program operations, staff performance, milieu management, and treatment programming to ensure consistency with the mission, culture, and best practices of the RWB program. The role ensures all treatment team communications, updates, and documentation are provided in alignment with Patient Referral Services (PRS) and referral source requirements. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding of military and first responder culture.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure the integrity and fidelity of the RWB program model across all aspects of programming and patient care.
  • Serve as the face of the RWB program—representing the facility and Acadia to Veterans, First Responder organizations, referral sources, and VA partners.
  • Collaborate with the SRU leadership team to strengthen relationships with the Department of Veterans Affairs and affiliated referral networks.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily milieu operations to ensure safety, structure, and therapeutic engagement of all program participants.
  • Facilitate and/or attend treatment team meetings, ensuring clinical communication and progress updates are provided in accordance with PRS and referral source expectations.
  • Work closely with clinical, nursing, and support staff to ensure consistent communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Monitor program schedule adherence, group quality, and milieu flow; provide feedback and support to staff as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement and implement corrective action plans to maintain excellence and compliance with Acadia standards.
  • Partner with Admissions, Business Development, and SRU leadership to support census growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain documentation of program activity, incidents, and key communications within required systems (EHR, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Act as liaison between the program, referral sources, and families to ensure timely updates and communication throughout treatment.
  • Participate in staff selection, training, and development to promote a culture of professionalism and accountability.
  • Attend and represent the program at internal and external meetings, conferences, and community engagement events as requested.
  • Maintain knowledge of VA processes, COMPACT/MISSION Acts, and public safety behavioral health needs.
  • Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional communication with staff, patients, referral sources, and family members.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in Behavioral Health or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in behavioral health or program management, preferably with Veteran and/or First Responder populations.
  • Strong understanding of military, Veteran, and public safety cultures.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience supervising or coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, therapeutic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic health record systems; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed or license-eligible behavioral health professional preferred (LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, etc.)
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
