New Oaks Academy at Belmont is seeking energetic, collaborative, and growth-minded teachers to join our team. This role is ideal for educators passionate about providing high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in a unique behavioral health setting. Our diverse student population includes individuals with emotional disturbance, intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other neurodivergent needs.

 

About New Oaks Academy:
New Oaks Academy is a licensed private school within Belmont Behavioral Health System. We serve students receiving inpatient psychiatric care by delivering a structured, supportive, and inclusive academic environment. Our small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratio allow for individualized attention and a focus on both academic and social-emotional growth.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement lessons aligned with state standards and tailored to students’ individual needs.
  • Create an engaging, structured classroom environment that promotes consistency, routine, and student participation through experiential learning.
  • Collaborate with Co-Teachers or Education Assistants weekly (every Monday or Friday) to ensure instructional alignment and classroom cohesion.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams—including clinical, nursing, social work, and medical staff—to support the holistic development of each student.
  • Lead Special Education case management in partnership with the Special Education team, including IEP development, tracking, and compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Support implementation of SDIs, modifications, and accommodations, and communicate progress effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular professional development, 1:1 coaching, and collaborative planning sessions provided by the school.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a closely related field.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in the relevant content area.
