Overview

TrustPoint Hospital is the sole provider of acute, hospital-based rehabilitation in Middle Tennessee. Our state-of-the-art rehabilitation center features a spacious therapy gym and an "activities of daily living area," facilitating comprehensive care and support. From occupational and physical therapy to speech and respiratory therapy, alongside services like IV therapy and wound care, we ensure patients receive the focused attention they need for a successful journey toward improved health. 

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Treat injured or ill patients to improve movement and manage pain by providing services of rehabilitation, treatment and prevention.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assess, plan, organize and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.
  • Diagnose patient functions and movements by observing them stand or walk and by listening to their concerns, among other methods and develop individualized plans of care for patient, outlining the patient goals and the expected outcomes of the plans.
  • Use exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy and equipment to ease patient pain, help increase mobility, prevent further pain or injury and facilitate health and wellness.
  • Evaluate and record patient progress, modifying a plan of care and trying new treatments as needed.
  • Educate patient and their family about what to expect from the recovery process and how best to cope with challenges throughout the process. Provide quality, personalized interventions.
  • Motivate patients during treatment in order to help them function optimally.
  • Complete discharge planning including designing home follow up programs when appropriate.
  • May conduct individualized or group therapy sessions, such as Hydrotherapy or Therapeutic Movement Group sessions.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.  When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.  Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy or Doctor of Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university, as required by state and acceptable for licensure.
  • One or more years’ experience working with population of the facility preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current active professional license, or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
